April is National Welding Month
The Welding merit badge was released 2012. Have you earned it yet? Its one of the hands on merit badges and the main requirements are, you guessed it, to actually weld something. As with all of the merit badges it is intended to help scouts explore a possible career and many have already been inspired by it and have found fun in creating something. You can read the list of requirements and browse the pamphlet. If you are going to summer camp at Camp Raven Knob then you can earn this merit badge! Contact your Scoutmaster to find a registered merit badge counselor for this merit badge. |
The average new Eagle Scout is how old?
Many scouts get pressure from lots of places to finish their work on the Eagle Scout rank but according to recently published statistics the average age of a newly minted Eagle Scout in 2016 was 17 years and 127 days. Was that a fluke in 2016? Nope. Since 2009 at least the average age has been over 17 years old. One theory is that scouts are staying in the program longer, enjoying it and not feeling the rush but they do get it done. Go figure! |
