A few reminders for the Bike Trip... - Permissions slips and fee due at Wednesday's meeting. Mr. Coman will be collecting.
- If you already requested to bring your own bike - you need to have it inspected. Mr. Polonio has volunteered to do this on Wednesday before troop meeting beginning at 6:45 pm.
- Depart from Kroger on Friday at 5 pm. Return is 1 pm Sunday.
- Warning on hammock tents - suitably spaced trees are an issue - you should plan on being a ground dweller. I am double checking the surface, but it should be dense enough for normal tent spikes.
- Bring your own helmet, water bottle, Camelback and/or small daypack.
- There is patrol time Wednesday for final planning - adults will look at menus. Make sure QMs have your equipment lists.
- Meals that need to be planned are:
- Saturday Breakfast – not to elaborate – we need to leave for bike shop 8:30 am. Keep in mind it must be nutritional since we have a full day of riding ahead.
- Saturday Lunch – should be a bag lunch that is carried. Also include fruit, trail mix as a nutritional snack.
- Saturday Dinner – you have plenty of time to prepare a good meal.
- Sunday Breakfast – plenty of time as long as you plan breakdown of camp to be fully packed to leave by 9:00 am.
- If you working on Camping Merit Badge, you should be able to use this ride as one of one options for Requirement 9b (Take a bike trip of at least 15 miles or at least four hours). This would mean that you already have a Blue Card or you get one signed Wednesday – it will be your responsibility to get the requirement signed off during the trip. Adult memories fade quickly, so get the sign-off before the weekend is over.
