Wow, that was fast! Two summer camps, Jambo, and all of the sudden, WHAM! It's the scout year again! Many, Many of you have done the work, and have been persistent enough to earn merit badges and rank requirements. A hearty "THANK YOU" to all of the adults who have made this happen. As we approach the Court of Honor at the Pancake Breakfast, keep a couple of things in mind: To make rank advancement, you have to complete your scoutmaster conference, then your Board of Review. The Everson's should be sending out a schedule soon about the boards of review. Keep in mind, the scoutmaster conference has to be done BEFORE this time. And I don't mean minutes before. Plan ahead, contact an ASM, and make it happen. The only scoutmaster conferences that require me to do scoutmaster conferences are Star, Life, and Eagle. For merit badges, there have been a number of scouts taking advantage of the summer to complete requirements. To get your badge at the Pancake Breakfast, it should be done and handed in to me no later than a week ahead of time. The Everson's have to process nearly 200 badges over the summer, so last minute submissions will wait until the next Court of Honor in November. You can earn the badge, it just won't be presented to you. And start thinking about the upcoming trips. We have a High Adventure Wilderness Survival trip set for the beginning of September. It should be a LOT of fun, and a great competition, with appreciated prizes. Our first full troop trip is the end of September, to Ft. Fisher. Camping near the beach and going to the aquarium, and catching crabs. It's a great start to a great year! See you all SOON! Mr. Bowman Scoutmaster |
