Order of the Arrow Elections

posted Jan 16, 2013, 5:49 AM by Keith Biegert
Our Order of the Arrow elections are scheduled for February 6th.  To be eligible:

"Scouts must have achieved the First Class rank or higher and must have experienced at least 15 nights of Boy Scout camping within the past two calendar years, including one, but no more than one, long term camp of 5 or 6 nights.  The remaining 9 or 10 nights must consist of overnight, weekend or other short term camping.  Cabin camping is not counted.  All candidates must be approved by their Scoutmaster."

The Order of the Arrow has the four objectives:

·          To recognize those campers - Scouts and Scouters - who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives and, by such recognition, cause other campers to conduct themselves in such a manner as to warrant similar recognition;
·          To develop and maintain camping traditions and spirit;
·          To promote Scout Camping which relates it's greatest effectiveness as a part of the unit's camping program, and to help strengthen the District and Council camping program both year-round and in the summer, as directed by the camping committee of the Council;
·          And to crystallize the Scout habit of helpfulness into a life purpose of leadership in cheerful service.

Scouts that are eligible to be included on the ballot must see the Scoutmaster at tonight's meeting and seek approval.
