Hello Scouts!

I know that the new Scout year has not begun yet, but we need to do an early declare for the 1st trip of the year, which is for the Airshow at Naval Air Station Oceana Sept 19-21st.

There will be lots to see and do at the airshow, including the U.S. Navy Blue Angels!  Scouts will be on their own (with buddies) to explore displays, watch performances, and hang out and have fun with their friends.  We will meet as a group a few times during the day just to check in.  Schedule is below.  Go here for a list of performers.

Because we are staying on the base, the Navy needs to get us cleared to stay there as a group, and they need some time to arrange that.  I need declare lists (THIS SHOULD COME FROM PATROL LEADERS, NOT INDIVIDUALS SCOUTS OR THEIR PARENTS) no later than August 18th at midnight.  If you are new to the troop and you have not been assigned a patrol yet, please contact me directly by replying to this email.

We also need parents and leaders to sign up to drive as soon as possible.  We will need a lot of drivers for this trip since we anticipate having a lot of Scouts.  I would rather have too many drivers and overkill the paperwork for the Navy than not enough and have to cancel the trip.  We must have all of our drivers registered the week of August 18th, and we cannot add any after that time.

Cost per person is $14.00, which will need to be paid to Mr. Lopez (make checks out to Troop 212) at the Pancake Breakfast on August 23.  This will get us general admission seats where we can sit to watch the performances, as well as cover the camping fees.  This will not cover food.  Each patrol will need a grub plan for (2) breakfasts and (1) dinner (cooking at camp).  Lunch on Saturday will be purchased at the airshow, so please bring cash.

4:40pm Meet at Kroger –Don’t be late

5pm Leave Kroger

8:30pm Arrive NAS Oceana, Set up Camp

Saturday Sept 20

6:30am Reveille and Breakfast

8am arrive Airshow for FOD Walk down and Static Displays

10am Performances Start

Noon Lunch (purchased at the airshow, so please bring cash)

3pm Blue Angels Perform

5pm Return to Camp/ Dinner/Free Time

Sunday Sept 21

6:30am Reveille and Breakfast

8am On Road

11:30am Arrive Kroger
