At the February Court of Honor representatives from the Occoneechee Order of the Arrow Lodge thanked Troop 212 for its outstanding support of the annual Sullivan Holiday 50 Mile Challenge. The Sullivan Challenge is a fundraiser event sponsored by our local Lodge to raise money for the Charlie Sullivan Training Center building located at Camp Durant. The event features hikers both in teams and individually hiking up to 50 miles all in a 24 hour time frame. To support that effort there are aid stations along the route. Troop 212 has sponsored stations as well as had hikers participate in the challenge every year since the event began. The Troop was presented with a certificate and a brick will be placed in the courtyard of the Sullivan Center engraved with Troop 212 as a permanent salute. A huge thank you to the families that have been the driving force in this effort which started with the Bowmans, the Yehs and Mrs. Tuman. Recently they have been joined by the Lopez and Young families. Many of our scouts and adults have hiked in the challenge. Thank you all of you! |
