Summer Camp

Troop 212 continues this year to offer outstanding opportunity to our scouts by offering two weeks of summer camp.  Both camps have new additions and host a
great scouting experience.  Summer Camp is one of the premier annual opportunities.  Don't miss out!
Camp Durant
June 16-June 22, 2019
Total Fee: $325
First Payment - $160 due by March 13
Final Payment - $165 and MB fees by April 24
MB selections should be turned in by April 24
Late Registration Fee: TBD

Camp Powhatan
June 30-July 6, 2019
Total Fee: $345
First Payment - $160 due by March 13
Final Payment - $185 due by March 27 
There is no additional charges for MB at Camp Powhatan.
MB selections should be turned in by March 27
Late Registration Fee: TBD
If you plan to go to camp, please fill out your intent on the Camp 2019 Google Form.

Important Dates
March 13--First payment due for both camps
March 27--Final payment for Camp Powhatan due.  MB selections and shirt orders for Camp Powhatan due.
April 24--Final payment for Camp Durant due.  MB selections for Camp Durant due.
May 29--Shirt orders for Camp Durant due.  All summer camp forms due for both Camp Durant and Camp Powhatan.

Forms required PRIOR to going to summer camp:
Food Allergies/Special Diets

Both camps can help with special dietary needs and concerns.  The camps request that we alert them to any special needs by June 1.  Please make sure all allergies (both food and non-food) are noted on the permission slip/consent form.

Scouts New to Summer Camp

Both camps offer programs specifically for a younger scout's first year at summer camp which your scout may participate.  However, based on previous experience, if your scout attends Troop 212's Boot Camp and other opportunities prior to attending summer camp, he will have learned many of the skills these programs offer and likely will have more fun jumping right into earning merit badges.

Some merit badges for First Year Scouts:
  • swimming
  • basketry
  • leatherwork
  • fish and wildlife/mammal study
  • woodcarving
  • nature
We highly recommend the swimming merit badge.  It is not only Eagle required but it is also a pre-requisite to several other merit badges and activities. Scoutcraft merit badges are also very hands on merit badges.
